Quick update

Sorry hadn't been able to post in the last month as my Aunt had a fall (nothing broken) but she needed extra care. Also, my Gran is in the hospital and will likely go into a care home (luckily one of my aunts works there).

I did, however, have a nice week away in Yorkshire. We stayed in a lovely cottage in the village of Pickering which had a wonderful big garden for Sami and Alley to play in.

Hoping to get back in the swing of things now and be able to post more often, lol.

Bank Holiday Monday

It was a beautiful sunny day for once here in Scotland so I made the most of it by making a small hurdle for Sami to jump over. Although I'll have to make it a bit higher she seemed to enjoy it.

Countdown has begun for my holiday as it will be in about a weeks time we go down to Yorkshire for a short holiday.

Still fighting for Lucifer and Scorpion to either be renewed or picked up by another network or streaming service. #SaveLucifer and #SaveScorpion, lol.

Not only do I now have a sore throat and cough (thanks Mum and Dad, lol) but I found out that Lucifer and Scorpion amongst other shows have been cancelled.

I'm hoping that another network or something like Netflix may consider picking one or even both up but getting annoyed by the fact that they seem to cancel all the good shows.

Not been able to update in a while due to both parents being ill, so I'm running a Sick Bay of my own at the moment, lol.

Got a PS4 for my birthday so deciding what games I'd want to buy and will be my next treat for myself.

Countdown to holiday has begun, it's less than a month away, and I've still got a lot to plan before we go. Hopefully, my Uncle can take my Great-Aunt (as I'm her carer) to his house in the borders to give me a break. Otherwise, I'll have to look into getting respite care for her.

Sorry, I've not been able to post much lately, but I've been suffering from a bug that seems to be going around at the moment. Feeling slightly better so hope to get back into the swing of things again, lol.

Today I've been helping my dad learn to scan documents and luckily he is a quick learner. Although I've jokingly suggested to the rest of the family that I'm setting up my own computer teaching business and starting to charge, lol.

Celebrated my mum's birthday the end of March and looking forward to mine the end of this month (as well as my dog Sami). If I'm still not feeling well at least, I can delay celebrating until my holiday in June.

Finished my fic for Space Swap challenge (still got some editing to do) and looking forward to other challenges in the future.

The Beast From The East

Scotland has been given its first Red Alert for the weather ever! Although a small part of me loved that as a Trekkie I am now so over the snow.

I think the only ones around where I live that do like the snow are kids or dogs, lol. All of the schools in Fife are cancelled, and it reminds me of when I wished for a snow day.

I don't know what it's like for my dreamwidth friends from other countries, but the snow is now almost knee deep in parts. This is the worst it's been for at least 27 years.

I guess that it gives me a chance to catchup on some shows or just Netflix and chill.

Holiday Countdown etc

I have decided to join the Space Swap Challenge 2018, it was a last minute decision, but luckily I remembered to sign up before the deadline.

I am exhausted and looking forward to going on holiday in June; hence my countdown has started early although I have three months to go. Especially since I am so over the winter weather (it plays havoc with my sore knees).

I'm generally not a big fan of sport (apart from Rugby), but I've been watching some of the Olympics. Enjoyed watching the figure skating and hockey. Go Team GB! Lol.

My aunt started day care once a week (for 14 weeks), so it gives me some respite during the afternoon.

Haven't been able to watch much TV but did catch Everything Sucks on Netflix it was alright but still prefer Stranger Things.

Space Swap Challenge etc

Noticed that Space Swap is now open for nominations, will hopefully get round to looking at them tomorrow and adding any that I would like.

Moved on to playing Lego Jurassic World on my 2ds and it has been quite fun so far. I like the fact that once you play the game through you can go back and get any collectables you might have missed the first time around. Looking for recommendations for any non-Lego game for the 2ds as I will eventually branch out to play other games.

My Aunt may now have a place in Day Care for one day a week (have to wait 2 weeks to get a start date). Apparently, if she were more unable to care for herself, she would already be in Day Care or a Care Home. But for 96 and still be able to wash, feed herself and is somewhat still able to walk I hope that I'm like that at her age, lol.

As I'm writing this, my dog Sami is curled up beside me on the bed, and as it's the middle of the winter, she is a brilliant hot water bottle replacement. I can't wait for the warmer weather to come in as the cold plays havoc with my knees (a problem that apparently only the woman in my family seem to get) and so I'm starting to count down the days until my holiday in June.

Snow Day!

I think the only one who enjoys the snow in my house is my Border, Collie Sami. She'll play out all day if I let her. Although it is helping me in my quest to lose weight as since I can't drive (due to the roads being terrible here and that the council is bad at getting the roads cleared and gritted) I've been walking a lot more. The downside is that my parents live up the top of a hill and I live in the town centre so to visit them I've got a bit of a climb, lol.

Ordered Jurassic World for my 2ds as I've finished Indiana Jones and moved onto Harry Potter (currently, all Lego games as I've got a slight obsession, lol.)

Call the Midwife finally starts on Sunday so that's something to look forward too and thanks to Netflix we get Star Trek Discovery on Monday.

My parents have reverted to their childhood as both are currently building Lego projects (Mum is building the Disney Castle from the Magic Kingdom, and Dad is working on the Kwik E Mart from the Simpsons). I've joked with my sister that theirs will be the first divorce in history to have Lego as their reason for separating.

Also, Space Swap is accepting Nominations from the end of the month so that might be my first fanfic challenge of the year.

Keeping Promises

So I'm really trying to keep my New Year resolutions, one is keeping up with this journal. I've decided that although I may not update it daily, I will try at least to do a weekly edition, lol.

Games

Right now I'm playing Lego Indiana Jones for the 2ds, and it's quite addictive. Finished the CSI game but will probably replay just to get 100% in all cases (currently, I'm in the 80% bracket so not to bad for my first attempt.)

Hoping to get back into playing Hidden Object games as I find those quite relaxing.

Films

Got Wonder Woman for Christmas on DVD so looking forward to watching that.

TV

Netflix UK released Friends so will probably binge watch that in the future. Can't wait until later this month when Call the Midwife starts again. Hoping to watch Black Mirror as well.

In other news got a nice start to the New Year as two people sent me kudos on a couple of my fics. Although I've only written for challenges so far, I may see if inspiration hits me and trying writing again soon.

Happy (Belated) Hogmanay/New Years Day!

I've had a quite festive period, spending Christmas Day with my parents, sister, gran and great aunt. Dogs had a great time and were spoiled rotten, lol. New Year was also quiet, but since my dad got a PlayStation 4 for Christmas, I see a few game nights in the future.

Decided on a few New Year resolutions - losing weight and trying not to take too long to update this journal :), being two of them.

Found the TV over the last couple of weeks to be quite boring, quite enjoyed a Christmas Carol Goes Wrong but found last years Peter Pan to be better. Of course Call the Midwife was tearjerking as usual and can't wait for the new season to start. Not seen the Little Women adaptation but have in on my iplayer to watch over the next few days.

Got a Nintendo 2DS for Christmas from my parents which lead me to raid my games cupboard for some of my old DS games (currently playing CSI Unsolved).

TV Shows catchup.

Finally got a few moments to myself so thought I'd let you all know I'm still alive, lol.

Caught up on a few TV shows so I'm happy with myself :).

Scorpion - Thanks to Netflix UK I re-watched season 3 although we'll probably have to wait a long time for season 4.

Star Trek Discovery - Finding I like this a lot better than I thought I would, not sure about the first couple of episodes but by the end I was enjoying it a lot more (again thanks to Netflix). Can't wait until January for the new episodes to start.

Stranger Things - I had to binge watch season 1 first as I hadn't actually watched this show before. When season 2 came on Netflix I decided to give it a go. Loved the throwback to the 80's theme (especially since I was an 80's kid).

Not only still playing Hidden Object Games I have also gotten back into Conceptis puzzles such as Link-A-Pix and Dot to Dot.

Started my Christmas shopping early so hopefully will miss the big rush in December. So far have my Mum's, Gran's, Sister's and most of my Dad's presents. Of course I'll be spoiling Sami but will wait until December to get her presents (in case she tries to find them) lol.

Looks like I'll be going on holiday in June so that's something to look forward too. Dad booked a cottage for a week in Yorkshire (Pickering). I love Scarborough and the Yorkshire Moors since we started going on holiday there when I was a child so can't wait to see how much it's changed over the years.

Received a nice surprise today the Babylon 5 book A Dream Given Form arrived today in the post. This should keep me busy for a while especially if I can't sleep at night. ;

Will give first thoughts review within the next few days and a fuller one after I've finished.

Also heard that one of the UK channels will be playing B5 from the start in November so that will handy as I read through the book and follow the series, lol.

TV Catchup - Netflix issues

So yesterday I found out that Netflix UK added Season 3 of Scorpion on its website, so I logged on only to discover they've only added up to episode 20 so no idea when they are planning on adding the other 5 (which for Waige and Quntis fans are the best episodes of season 3). Luckily I have the DVD but come on if you announce adding a season you should make sure all of the episodes are online.

Sisters birthday went OK, have a day trip to see the Kelpies at Falkirk then some shopping before having lunch at our local carvery the Sweet Chestnut.

Don't know what's happening for Halloween yet but will keep you up to date, lol.

Love Surprises

Today I got a pleasant surprise in the post as my Scorpion season 3 DVD arrived so finally able to catch up (although it's started back in America, living in Scotland means I will have to wait a while for season 4). Also bought Lucifer season 1 & 2 for my dads Christmas as since both mum and I are hooked we think he'll enjoy it too.

It's my sisters birthday this month as do bought Red Dwarf Back to Earth for her as she has now watched all the episodes that are on Netflix and is eager to catch up.

Also bought a new laptop for myself which is lucky as my old one is almost at breaking point, lol. It turned up just in time for my new DVDs and with a 17-inch screen will allow me much better viewing than my previous 15-inch screen.

Finished working on my Femslash Exchange fic and with some editing to do should have it posted within the next couple of days, just in time for the deadline PHEW!

Still Alive

I have just realised that I've not been posting here for a while so just checking in to let folks know I'm still here just been really busy.

I'm a carer for my elderly aunt, and I've been trying to arrange additional support for her. We've now got a lovely NHS Support Worker who is going to start taking my aunt out during the day, twice a week which will give me some free time and a chance to recharge my batteries, lol. Also hoping to get her on a waiting list for Sheltered Housing where there would be a Warden nearby in case she needs help. Moving into one would be perfect for night time as her next door neighbour is moving home and she is feeling vulnerable at the moment (although the area where she lives is quiet and the other neighbours are friendly and helpful). Also trying to get her to go to the local Social Club as she has indicated that she is feeling a bit lonely and wants to be around people her own age (she's 96).

I'm looking forward to the end of September/beginning of October as most of the shows I like to watch will be re-starting around that time. Although the summer lull has given me the chance to catch up on other shows, lol.

Sami is now fully recovered from her injury and is loving the new ball I gave her to play on the field with. Hopefully, the weather will stay mild so we can continue to go to the area as it can become like a swamp really quickly.

Day Out

Today we had the Defend Dunfermline Festival which was to promote the joining of Polish and Scottish soldiers during WW2. Took my dad down to visit as he had been in the Territorial Army when I was younger and we both found it very interesting. Especially as his first uniform after he joined the TA was a WW2 era soldiers uniform.

It was nice to see the local children also getting involved and learning about the war.

I've caught up to the end of season 2 Scorpion, although Netflix UK doesn't have season 3 yet so I'll have to find it on another site or wait for the DVD coming in September, lol.

Started Christmas shopping already as I've bought my dad the combined season 1 & 2 of Lucifer as I'm sure he'll enjoy it.

Without my aunt this week as she's gone down to my uncle's house to stay for a short holiday, so hopefully I can get a bit more writing done and catch up on some chores.

Sami Take 2

The good news is Sami is almost healed from her small cut on her paw; it's healing nicely so less worrying for me, lol. Sami will look forward to going back on long walks and getting to play football in the field.

My mum has an ear infection so having to shout at both her and my aunt (who won't wear her hearing aid) has given me a sore throat.

Celebrated my boyfriend Cameron's birthday with a nice dinner and walked down the local park afterwards. My parent's wedding anniversary is this weekend (39 years). My aunt turns 96 on the 10th August so four more years until the Queens telegram.

About to start my writing for two exchanges due the end of the month/beginning of September.

Almost caught up on Season 2 of Scorpion (episode 18) and starting to re-watch some old favourites such as Red Dwarf, Still Game and Chewin' the Fat.

My poor dog Sami has cut her paw a little, luckily it's just a scrape, but I'm putting Anti-Bacterial spray on it just in case. So she is currently being spoilt rotten and is enjoying sleeping in my room instead of her bed downstairs so that I can keep an eye on her. Doesn't seem to be bothering her much so hopefully within a week it will have healed.

Started my Christmas shopping (sort of) as I'm planning a couple of small cross stitch projects for my Aunt and Gran. I typically make them a Christmas Card or a bookmark but not decided on a pattern yet.

We're back to the lovely Scottish weather pattern of pouring rain, lol. I'm thankful in some ways as it means it's not as muggy at night.

About halfway through of Scorpion season 2 (up to episode 12) which is funny as tonight I will be watching a Christmas episode in July, lol.

Also heard about Stargate turning 20 - can't believe that it's been that many years already. Wish it was still being recorded but heard we might be getting a new series Stargate Origins so that might be worth a watch.

Happy Birthday to badfalcon

It's been a quiet week for me and slowly catching up on Scorpion (season 2 episode 8).

Saw the trailer for the new Star Trek Discovery tv show and will probably watch it on Netflix when it comes out. Also watched the trailer for Orville and that reminded me of Galaxy Quest so will also give that a try.

Luckily we've had a bit of rain over here, so it's not been so hot lately which makes it easier to sleep at night. Sami is glad as I've had to open my bedroom window at night to cool the room down for her.

Had to help my sister with her CV today as I'm the typist in the family, lol.

Bought the Coldplay album - Ghost Stories and the new Star Wars film - Rogue One for my boyfriends birthday on Saturday.
